Propofol B. Braun is an ultra-short acting intravenous general anesthetic indicated for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in adults and children.

It is also used for sedation of mechanically ventilated adult patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) and for sedation for diagnostic and surgical procedures, alone or in combination with local or regional anesthesia.

Propofol provides rapid onset of anesthesia and a quick, clear-headed recovery profile, making it suitable for various clinical settings.

Caution & Warnings:

• Administer only in a hospital or adequately equipped facility by personnel trained in airway management and resuscitation.
• Risk of profound respiratory depression, apnea, and hypotension; close monitoring of vital signs is mandatory.
• Not recommended for use in children younger than 1 month for induction and maintenance of general anesthesia.
• Use with extreme caution in patients with severe cardiac, respiratory, renal, or hepatic impairment, or in hypovolemic or debilitated patients.
• Contains soybean oil and egg lecithin; use with caution in patients with known allergies to soy or eggs.
• Not for obstetric anesthesia, including cesarean section, due to potential for neonatal depression.
• Discard any unused portion after opening; do not store opened ampoules.
