How to Use:
1. PEDIACEL vaccine must be administered by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a doctor or nurse.
2. The vaccine is given as an intramuscular injection, typically into the anterolateral aspect of the thigh for infants or the deltoid muscle for older children.
3. The primary immunization course usually consists of several doses, followed by booster doses according to national immunization schedules and medical advice.
4. Before administration, ensure the vaccine is at room temperature and gently shake the vial to obtain a homogeneous, whitish, cloudy suspension.
5. It is crucial not to inject the vaccine intravenously under any circumstances.
Caution & Warnings:
- Do not administer PEDIACEL to individuals with a history of severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to a previous dose of this vaccine or any of its components.
- Vaccination should be postponed in individuals suffering from an acute severe febrile illness. A minor infection or low-grade fever is usually not a contraindication.
- Observe patients for approximately 15 minutes after vaccination for immediate allergic reactions, as a precautionary measure.
- Inform your healthcare provider if your child has a history of neurological disorders, uncontrolled seizures, or a bleeding disorder.
- Common side effects may include fever, irritability, redness, swelling, and pain at the injection site. Serious reactions are rare but possible.
- This vaccine is for intramuscular use only. It should not be injected intravenously, intradermally, or subcutaneously.
- Consult your physician regarding vaccination if your child is immunocompromised, premature, or has any chronic health conditions.
Ingredients:
Active ingredients per 0.5 mL dose:
- Diphtheria toxoid: 20 Lf
- Tetanus toxoid: 5 Lf
- Acellular pertussis components: Pertussis toxoid (2.5 mcg), Filamentous haemagglutinin (5 mcg), Pertactin (3 mcg), Fimbriae 2+3 (5 mcg)
- Inactivated Poliovirus Type 1: 40 D antigen units
- Inactivated Poliovirus Type 2: 8 D antigen units
- Inactivated Poliovirus Type 3: 32 D antigen units
- Haemophilus influenzae type b (polyribosyl-ribitol-phosphate) polysaccharide: 10 mcg, conjugated to tetanus protein (18-30 mcg)
Excipients include: Aluminum phosphate (adjuvant), Phenoxyethanol (preservative), Water for injection, and trace amounts of neomycin, streptomycin, and polymyxin B.
