Caution & Warnings
- Severe Birth Defects: Oratane is highly teratogenic (causes severe birth defects). Regular pregnancy tests are mandatory.
- Mood Changes: Rarely, Oratane has been associated with mood changes, depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. Report any changes in mood or behavior to your doctor immediately.
- Liver Function & Lipids: Regular blood tests will be required to monitor liver function and lipid levels (cholesterol, triglycerides).
- Dryness: Common side effects include extreme dryness of the skin, lips, eyes, and nasal passages. Use moisturizing creams, lip balm, and eye drops regularly.
- Sun Sensitivity: Your skin will be more sensitive to sunlight. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with high SPF when outdoors.
- Avoid Cosmetic Procedures: Do not undergo waxing, dermabrasion, or laser skin treatments during Oratane therapy and for at least 6 months after stopping, as it can lead to scarring.
- Blood Donation: Do not donate blood during treatment and for at least one month after stopping Oratane, due to the risk of exposing a pregnant woman to Isotretinoin.
