Close monitoring of the patient's metabolic status, fluid balance, and lipid levels is essential during infusion. 5. Strict aseptic technique must be maintained throughout the preparation and administration process.Caution & Warnings:
- Do not administer if the emulsion shows signs of phase separation, damage to the container, or discoloration.
- Use with extreme caution in patients with impaired lipid metabolism, severe liver disease, or coagulation disorders.
- Monitor regularly for signs of fluid overload, electrolyte disturbances, hyperglycemia, and liver function abnormalities.
- Immediate discontinuation is required if signs of an allergic reaction (e.g., rash, difficulty breathing) or lipid overload syndrome (e.g., fever, hyperlipidemia, hepatosplenomegaly) occur.
- Not recommended for patients with acute shock, severe hyperlipidemia, or uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.
- Avoid rapid infusion; the rate of administration should not exceed 0.125 g lipids/kg body weight/hour.
