Caution & Warnings

• This medication is for prescription use only and should only be administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
• Extrapyramidal Symptoms (EPS): Patients may experience parkinsonism, dystonia, akathisia, and tardive dyskinesia. Monitor closely and consider dose adjustments or adjunctive medications.
• Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS): A potentially fatal symptom complex characterized by hyperpyrexia, muscle rigidity, altered mental status, and autonomic instability. Discontinue immediately if NMS is suspected.
• QT Prolongation and Cardiac Arrhythmias: Use with caution in patients with known cardiovascular disease, family history of QT prolongation, or concurrent use of other QT-prolonging drugs.
• Elderly Patients with Dementia-Related Psychosis: Increased risk of death. HALDOL DECANOAS is not approved for the treatment of such patients.
• Seizures: Use with caution in patients with a history of seizures or conditions that lower the seizure threshold.
• Hypotension: May cause orthostatic hypotension; monitor blood pressure, especially during initial dosing.
• Drug Interactions: Be aware of potential interactions with other medications, particularly those affecting the central nervous system or cardiac function.
